Sunday Morning: 8:30am - Latin Rite; 10:30am - Maronite
Holy Days of Obligation: Vigil 7:00pm
Baptism and Weddings by appointment. Reconciliation 15 minutes before services or upon your request.

ABOUT THE CHURCH

HISTORY OF SAINT GEORGE MARONITE CATHOLIC CHURCH

Saint George Maronite Catholic Church dates back to the turn of the century in a period when there was an influx of emigrants from Lebanon who settled mainly in the Federal Hill area of Providence. They came from all parts of Lebanon such as Baan, Beirut, Besharre, Blouza, Dfoun, Eddee, Jebail, Kafarsghaab, Tripoli and Zouk. Most of them lived around the church which was the center of their religious and social life.

MISSION STATEMENT

Our goal is to build a community of teens and adults. In this community, we hope to strive for opportunities for the development of personal faith, service to others, and systematic instruction in our Maronite religious tradition.

Youth ages 12 - 18 are invited to join.

First Grade

Teacher: Fran Healy
Theme: The Holy Trinity

Summary: The students will learn about the birth of Jesus, The Holy Family, Jesus, Mary and Joseph, and The Maronite Saints.

Second Grade

Teacher: Geri Fiyod
Theme: Meeting Jesus in the Holy Msyteries

Summary: This text introduces the student to the Holy Mysteries and also focuses on the Liturgical Seasons of the Maronite Church.

This class prepares the student to receive the Mystery of Reconciliation and the Mystery of Holy Eucharist.

Third Grade

Teacher: Samia Sleiman
Theme: Our Church Family

Summary: The students will learn that faith grows when we are rooted in Jesus and that God loves the Church like a groom loves his bride and like a mother loves her children.

Fourth Grade

Teacher: Samia Sleiman
Theme: Following Jesus

Summary: The students will learn about christian morality and the gifts that God has given them.

They will learn how to make and correct moral decisions throughout their lives.

Fifth Grade

Teacher: Samia Sleiman
Theme: The Church Liturgy

Summary: The students will learn about symbols through which Jesus described Himself and the Kingdom of God. They will also learn how the Liturgy is a form of communication with God.

Sixth Grade

Teacher: Samia Sleiman
Theme: The Bible

Summary: The students will learn about different kinds of writings in the Bible and will learn some of the history of the Old and New Testaments.
